Thank You Letter From Charity Event

October 09, 2012 2 min read

We recently donated some Infinity Pro Ionic Bands and other bits and pieces to a charity fund raising event for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Blind Veterans UK and The Duke of Gloucester Playground.

A little about the charity event:

"The money is being raised on behalf of a little lad called Jack who has a rare genetic condition which has caused his eyes to grow with no iris, no lens and a very thin cornea's. Oh, and he has Glaucoma. Jack is registered blind.

All money raised goes towards improving all aspects of this hospital, who we will be eternally grateful for, for saving what little sight Jack has. This is ongoing though and Jack will remain under the care of GOSH until he is a young adult. In the 2 and a half years we have been going to this wonderful hospital, we have seen the changes and improvements that the publics donations have made..and Jack has benefited from the new sensory room on Sky Ward and I have benefited from the nice new beds on the ward too!

I have been privileged to meet some wonderful people who also visit GOSH, so this money will help them too."

So we donated some stuff and we got this very nice email back to say thanks!

"We would like to take this opportunity to convey our heartfelt thanks to you for your kind donation to our charity event.

Your contribution helped us to raise a total of £2794.35 which will go a long way to helping our 3 charities. It is being shared equally between GOSH, Blind Veterans UK and The Duke of Gloucester Playgroup.

The event was attended by in excess of 90 people and all who attended had an excellent evening.

Events like these are never successful without the kind donations of prizes and time. We couldn’t have pulled this off without your support and everyone who bought tickets and donated money to this fantastic cause.

We set ourselves a personal target of raising £4000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, by Jack’s 4th birthday (£1K for each year he been with us). Unfortunately after this event, I am £143.97 short of the target…so we are holding a Bake Sale 2 days before Jacks birthday on Fri 19th Oct and hopefully we will reach that target.

Thanks once again and I wish your company the very best of success in the future.

Yours gratefully

Sally & Al Scarbrough"

We didn't want to see these guys miss their £4,000 target so as well as donating prizes we topped up the money raised with the £143.97 missing in order to reach the £4,000 goal.

Hopefully in the future technology will allow us to make blind people see - now that would be special!

Thanks for reading :-)
